After getting the incredible opportunity to preview Epic Universe, we can confidently say this: it's unlike anything Universal—or any theme park—has done before. With stunning lands, seamless navigation, and something for every age and stage, Epic Universe is the kind of place that makes you want to drop everything and start planning a trip ASAP. So let’s break it all down, land by land.
🐉 First Stop: Isle of Berk
Let me just say it—Isle of Berk stole the show. It’s the largest land in the park and completely immersive. If you’re a fan of How to Train Your Dragon, prepare to lose your mind. But even if you’ve never seen the movies (who are you?), it’s still incredible.
Between the rides (Hiccup’s Wing Gliders is a must!), the entertainment, the food, and the live stage show Untrainable Dragon—everything here was top-notch. And yes, Toothless is there, along with Hiccup, Astrid and Stormfly, and other characters just casually roaming around like it’s totally normal. It’s not—it’s amazing.
This land is bursting with energy and heart, and it feels truly alive.

🍄 Super Nintendo World: Bright, Bold & Built for Gamers
Gamers, rejoice—Super Nintendo World is exactly what it sounds like: walking straight into a video game. With vibrant colors, moving elements, and a nonstop soundtrack, this land is a kid’s dream and a Nintendo fan’s paradise.
That said, fair warning: it’s loud, bright, and can be overstimulating, especially for those sensitive to sensory overload. There’s also a lot crammed into a small space, with attractions and walkways split between upper and lower levels, which makes navigating a bit tricky at times.
Donkey Kong Country is a super fun addition—tons of charm, great theming, and some wild ride tech in play. Just know: it’s hotter in this land than others (something about all those bright surfaces), and like the rest of the park, there’s almost no shade. Bring sunscreen, fans, and hydration... seriously.
🧙♀️ A Peek into the Wizarding World
We had the chance to explore the new Wizarding World area, which beautifully blends the British Ministry of Magic with the Parisian streets from Fantastic Beasts. The main attraction was open, but despite our best efforts, we had no luck snagging a spot in any of the three virtual queue drops throughout the day.
That said, we did get to walk through the Ministry—and it was absolutely incredible. The theming is rich, immersive, and everything you’d hope for from the Wizarding World.
Outside of the Ministry experience, though, the rest of the land felt a bit underwhelming compared to the high bar set by Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley. Still, the potential is definitely there, and we’re excited to see how it evolves before the full opening.

🧟♂️ Don’t Sleep on Dark Universe
Dark Universe is a total vibe. It’s spooky, stylish, and packed with gothic charm—perfect for fans of classic monsters with a modern twist. We’re talking Frankenstein’s lab, Dracula lurking in the shadows, and a moody atmosphere that hits just right after the sun goes down.
A highlight of this land is the Burning Blade Tavern—a one-of-a-kind dining spot that comes alive with fire effects every 15 minutes. It’s dramatic, it’s fiery, and it’s definitely not to be missed. Dark Universe really shines after dark—so save this land for the evening if you can.

🌌 Starfall Racers Soars
Located in Celestial Park, right at the heart of Epic Universe, Starfall Racers is a dual-launch coaster that’s smooth, thrilling, and just plain fun. With stunning visuals and a unique racing element, it’s easily one of the most impressive coasters we’ve seen in any theme park.
This ride alone is worth the trip for coaster lovers. Trust me—you’ll be back in line before you catch your breath.

🥐 Food & Drinks: Surprisingly Solid
We were pleasantly surprised by the food throughout the park. One standout treat was the Butterbeer crepe at Café L’air De La Sirène, located within the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic. This indulgent dessert features stacked crepes filled with rich butterscotch sauce, topped with Butterbeer whipped cream, fresh strawberries, and a shortbread cookie. It's a must-try for any Butterbeer enthusiast.
In Isle of Berk, Mead Hall was a standout. This grand Viking gathering place offers hearty fare like Berserker’s Meatballs with smashed root vegetables and lingonberry jam, and the Thawfest Platter with grilled salmon, sausage, and chicken drumsticks. The atmosphere is immersive, with towering wooden beams, dragon carvings, and a cozy, fire-lit vibe that makes you feel like you're feasting in a Viking lodge.
Over in Dark Universe, Das Stakehaus caught our attention. The interior is moody and gothic, perfectly matching the land’s aesthetic. The food was decent for theme park standards, with options like the Blood Orange Chicken Sandwich and Fish on a Stake. While the cuisine didn’t blow us away, the setting alone makes it worth a visit.
🧭 Layout, Logistics & Tips
Epic Universe is easy to navigate overall, though Super Nintendo World can be a little confusing due to its multi-level design. Once it opens to the public, we recommend two full days to fully enjoy everything without rushing.
One big tip: there is very little shade in the entire park. Combine that with Florida’s heat and you’ll want to come prepared—sunscreen, water, portable fans, small umbreallas, the whole kit.
📸 Photo Ops & Nighttime Magic
Each land has a unique themed portal that serves as the entrance—and they are seriously next-level. Don't skip the chance to grab some great photos there.
And after dark? The whole park levels up. Lighting, ambiance, and a certain kind of magic you just don’t get during the day. If you're a nighttime park person—you’re in for a treat.

Final Thoughts
Epic Universe may be a bit smaller than we expected, but it absolutely delivers. It's immersive, exciting, and packed with creativity around every corner.
Would I recommend it to clients? Without hesitation. Whether as part of a longer Universal Orlando vacation or as a destination all its own, Epic Universe is perfect for families, thrill seekers, and theme park lovers of all kinds.
